Long-Neglected Update and Summer 2017 Plans

My apologies for not having anything to post in over a year. When we started playing together almost seven years ago, all of us were still at home, which made finding practice time much easier. Now, seven years later, Hannah and Teresa will be entering their senior and sophomore years of college in the fall, and Dominic and Agnes will be in their senior and sophomore years of high school. Nevertheless, we are still playing! This summer, now that everyone is home, practice has resumed, and we have been invited again to play at the LaCrosse Diocese Priests for Tomorrow Fundraiser Dinner on July 30. Our program for the evening is (almost) entirely new, featuring three never-before-performed (by us) quartets written by W.A. Mozart. Perfect background music to complement the delicious dinner. We are looking forward to our fourth time playing for this dinner.

Dominic's Solo Cello Performance

We all enjoy playing together as a quartet, but a lot of our individual practicing also focuses on our solo performance pieces. Dominic did a wonderful job at his instructor's cello recital last weekend with his performance of two movements from Bach's Cello Suite No. 2!
NB: He actually starts playing at 0:45; took longer than expected for him to adjust his cello. :)

Summer plans

Back together again, performing at Norseland Nursing Home
Well, the school year is nearly out, so we're ready to get back to work this summer! We had our first performance this year all together at the local nursing home, a few days after Hannah arrived home from college on summer break. We threw together a few pieces that we've played many times because we had pretty much two days to practice together.
Hannah, happy to be back with the group
Our program included an arrangement of W.A. Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, one of our favorites, as well as other familiar tunes like Pachelbel's Canon in D, Ch. Gounod's Ave Maria, and Peter Heidrich's Happy Birthday Variations.
Our little violist, Agnes, enjoys the beautiful sound of her new, slightly larger, viola
Now that we're all home, we can start practicing together again. Yay! We already have a wedding in LaCrosse to play at the end of the month, we have plans for potentially playing at the Wisconsin State Fair again, and we are hoping for many more performances this summer.
Hope to see you around!

Wisconsin State Fair!

In the beginning of August, we played at the Wisconsin State Fair. We had a great time. We had two performances. One was at the Bank Mutual Amphitheater and the other one was on the Jeffrey Scott Activity Stage. We played some Mozart, Bach and some of Peter Heidrich's "Happy Birthday Variations." We will be posting some pictures from the WI State Fair and a video or two of "Happy Birthday Variations" soon!
