Wisconsin State Fair!

In the beginning of August, we played at the Wisconsin State Fair. We had a great time. We had two performances. One was at the Bank Mutual Amphitheater and the other one was on the Jeffrey Scott Activity Stage. We played some Mozart, Bach and some of Peter Heidrich's "Happy Birthday Variations." We will be posting some pictures from the WI State Fair and a video or two of "Happy Birthday Variations" soon!

What's in a name?

The Admiral String Quartet. No, we're not named after the admirals in the navy. None of us are particularly into boats. Our name draws its origin from our German last name, which means "butterfly." So when we started talking about a name for ourselves, we all agreed we needed a name of a butterfly. Choosing a Wisconsin butterfly naturally followed, since we live in Wisconsin! We made a list of Wisconsin butterflies, narrowed the list down to a few favorites, then our entire family voted. The result was....the Admiral String Quartet!

Meet the Musicians-Agnes

And, last but not least, we have Agnes.

Hello, I am Agnes and I am 11 years old . I started playing violin at age five, but soon after switched to viola. I have been playing viola for about 6 1/2 years. I have received two La Crosse Symphony Orchestra String Scholarships. I play in the La Crosse Area Youth Symphony Orchestra and played at several of the Orchestra's Honors Recitals. I have also been awarded many 1st Place and Merit Award ribbons at the Vernon County Fair. Other than playing music, I like to play with friends and read books.

 My name is Dominic. I am 14 and I play cello. I started playing violin when I was 6,  but 4 years ago, I switched to cello and I've been playing it ever since. Other than playing the cello, I love cycling, dog training, and reading J. R. R. Tolkien.

Meet the musicians- Teresa

Hello, I'm Teresa. I play violin and am 16 years old.

I've been playing violin for 11 years. I have played in the La Crosse Youth Symphony Orchestra for the past 6 years and look forward to next year's season. I have played in my violin teacher's recitals, the youth orchestra's Honors Recital and 4-H arts festivals. When I'm not playing my violin, I love to cook, sew and do just about anything Jane Austen related.

Meet the Musicians-Hannah

Hi, I'm Hannah. I am 17 years old, and I play violin in our quartet. I have played violin for almost 13 years. Besides our quartet, I've been involved in many other musical activities, such as youth symphony, 4-H arts festivals, and various recitals. When I'm not playing my violin, I like to read Jane Austen novels or train our puppy. Or you might find me singing or fiddling around on the piano or guitar!
